Redesign: New York Transit Museum
The Museum I redesigned is New York's trolleys and buses.
The primary purpose of the exhibition is to let audiences know about the development of New York's ground public transportation. For my experience of visiting there, I think the content of the development timeline is exciting and needs to be kept in my design. But I think the whole space is kind of hard for audiences to figure out which part is what. Also, during my visit, there were a lot of parents with their kids, and the space is kind becomes the playground of kids.
Big Idea
I want to separate the exhibition and social areas. The whole space is designed as the scene that you are waiting in the bus station.
Exhibition
move the exhibition part into the two actual size buses and trolleys, so audiences can learn the history and experience the actual development. I feel pity about the exhibition right now because I didn't see an actual trolley.
Interactive & Social
Most of the space is a social space for people to play around; the bus station has seats for people to set. In front of the bus station is a screen; the screen will play some vintage videos and some significant information. The lightbox of the bus station is a touch screen; it can have some interactive games that relate to public transit for kids to play.
Also, there is a model of driver's seat that people can interact with, also can be a rest spot to seat.
